In the history of Handball it is presumed that Game Handball was brought to India arguably  by Shri JS Chauhan of Haryana. He conducted two all India seminar on Handball at Rohtak in Haryana before the formation of Fedration in year 1971-72. Amateur Handball Federation of India (AFHI) was formed in 1972 and got provisional affliation with International Handball Federation. The Asian Handball Federation granted it Affliation in 1976. AHFI is affiliated in our country with Govt. of India, the all India council of sports and Indian Olympic Association. The present form of HFI is known to all  and organisation information is available on this site. The little knowledge of history of  HFI could be disputed but any one is aware of further knowledge may share with us.

North-Zone Handball Championship, Delhi Women shines

North-Zone handball Championship is concluded at Jammu (J&K) today. In men Section Jammu and Kashmir became the champion and Delhi women were outstanding and won the championship. The condition of conducting tournaments are improving day by day and standard of game is also marking progress. But when we compare India with other Asian countries lot needs to be done. There are two ways to go presently, forming of clubs with contribution and training young children in schools, secondly inviting sponsors and getting our teams trained by foreign coaches and exposing our teams to better teams outside country. Things are improving since last year but at a slow pace. India had won Inter-continental Championship at chennai and now our U-20 team will play World Cup qualifying round, India is again chosen to conduct this championship, some where in May-June this year. Appeal to all handball lovers to make it success for better future of Handball in India.
